What an Amazing Attraction...

It has been called to my attention that I maybe might be picking on one friend more than the other in my blog.  So, to make things a bit more fair I have to tell you about Saturday when I took my Besties to Savannah.  Hopefully this will even it out a bit.

We started out and had lunch at our favorite burger joint in on Broughton Street in Historic Downtown Savannah called B&D Burgers.  If you come and visit we will take you there.  Then we checked out the local shops and things.

Bridget decided she needed to go in the Savannah Bee Company.  Before I knew it, the kids were in the hive and Bridget and Garrett were chatting up the honey expert at the honey bar.

Inside the hive

A view from the outside

You see, there is a big debate about how if you take a teaspoon of local honey everyday, it can replace allergy shots by helping you build up a tolerance to the pollens and plants.  It has to be local honey so Ms. Bridget was out and my holistic husband bought a jar.  So, I bought lip balm.  I did have to tell them that if you ate local sea food like the shrimp sold on the side of the road it would do the same thing. Don't you think?

After the honey store, I had a couple of tired bugs so Garrett took them home and we continued to shop. Unfortunately for Bug, she was lumped into the have to go home group.

A disappointed Bug.

After the family left we decided to go down to the river and visit the shops and bars.  One thing that I learned is that you can carry an open container of alcohol as long as it is smaller then 16 ozs and not in a bottle or can. So, we visited Wet Willies.  A bar full of slushy machines. It was super cool.  I had a margarita and Bridget had a mohito.

We watched some street performers and checked out a real big ship.  Literally, that is what it was named "Big Ship"  Bridget even decided that she would see what the mermaids feel like on the front of the ship.

'This adventure will continue...

We are headed to FL for the next adventure but wanted to keep you all informed of our adventures...
Side note, Mom have not even looked for misspelling and edits on this one yet either...

When Crabs & Kites Attack...

Last Sunday we decided to take Melissa and Bridget to the beach. Since none of us had visited Hilton Head, SC we figured that it sounded like a plan.  After church we loaded up the car with our beach towels and headed out.  I will have to say there were a few tense moments for Garrett as he was a bit out numbered with all the ladies in the car.

Our order at Wendy's was a bit difficult. Two number 6's, one with no tomatoes, UNsweetened ice tea.  Three spicy chicken nuggets, three UNspicy chicken nuggets, two double stacks, a number 1 no mayo, 3 small fries, two large UNsweetened ice teas, and two small waters. Amazingly we got it right, that is as far as I know.

Parking also was a bit on the tense side because they only have one small parking lot for the beach and it was full.  We did find a parking attended who was issuing tickets and he told us to park at the shopping center.  We asked if that was legal and he did not know.  "Everyone does it." So we went with that and yes Garrett and I are still married.

The beach was super fun.  We had some amazing attractions at our sandcastle that Bug and Melissa worked so hard on.  It had a bit of Easter Island to it.

It took a bit of technique to master the art of sand castle making.

The finished castle before it was destroyed by the maker.

Bug did try and try to keep the mote full for about 35 minutes before she got too frustrated since the sand keep drinking it up. Really?  I had no idea.  I guess we should have asked Little Bug.  She would have known.

Little Bug was so excited by the Little Ocean.  When the tide rolls out, it left little pockets of water and she loved to play in it since it did not have sharks. No worries.

Garrett did get attacked by a crab and it even drew a little blood.  Poor guy.  He had to sit out the rest of the day.

Melissa had a little fight with a little boy's kite.  It came after her and she through it in the bike wheel of a passing bike.  See you later kite.  But not before it left its mark.  Not the goofy face but the cut on her neck.

PS- Notice there are no pics of Bridget or myself.  We are so good at avoiding the camera when in bathing suits.

I KNOW!!!!

You see Little Bug knows everything.  When you tell her something, you always get "I KNOW!!" back as an answer.  Even if you were not asking a question.

"Little Bug, don't jump off your bed!"

"I KNOW!!!"

"Little Bug, flush the toilet."

"I KNOW!!"

"Little Bug, be careful when you shut the shower curtain.  It can rip."

"I KNOW!!"

New shower curtain.

So the question that I beg to ask is if we KNOW then why do we still jump of the bed, not flush the toilet and even rip the shower curtain so I have to replace it the next day.

The fun part is that when Bridget and Melissa were here they even picked up on the "I KNOW" syndrome.  In fact.  I think it might just have the beginnings of the new catch phase.  Just make sure to add the attitude with it.  I know you can.

Poor Micheal...

Yesterday Little Bug came home from school all excited to tell me about Michael.  Michael and Stanley are two little boys in here class that she has a love/hate relationship.  Michael was not feeling so hot and got sick in a trash can next to Mrs. Shueman's Desk (Mrs. Whilhote is on maternity leave now with her baby girl, Preston). A little got on the floor and Michael was sent home by the school nurse.

I know that I promised this week to tell you about my BFFS' visit and yes this really does tie in... How? Well, Bridget and Melissa's visit had a bit of a rocky start.  One of my friends has a very difficult time relaxing.  I am not naming names as I don't want that person to feel bad. (MG) We all have our things. So, one over tired, stressed out and hard working friend got a little car sick on the way to soccer practice (Yes, it could have been my driving as we were running a bit behind).  Thank goodness for the empty trash can I always keep in the car.

When we get to practice, my friend took a nap in the car and the rest of us braved the soccer field.  I say braved because it had been a bit rainy last week and the sand gnats (or sand cats... which ever works). Were a little out of control.  We all put on bug spray but were attacked anyway.  Little Bug and I had the most bites.  But the sand cats really liked Bridget's hair.  I got to spray her head with bug spray.  She hates bug spray but we were trying anything.

I don't know if you will be able to see it but all the red bumps are my sand cat bites almost 6 days later.  I have taken itcy medicine every night in order to sleep.  That is just my arm.  I have them on my legs, neck, head, under my hair and on my toes.  It is crazy.

The other ladies (Savannah natives) were laughing at us and noted that we were not from around here.  They told us to just wait until the SWAMP mosquitoes come out.  (OH!  I am SOOO excited.  Yellow Fever and West Nile here I come).

After practice, we got some frozen yogurt and went home to shower and get some sleep.

Totally Wicked Weekend!

I can't speak for the others, but I had an awesome weekend with my family and my besties.  In fact, I am going to dedicate this whole week of blogs the the adventures of Bridget, Lynn & Melissa in Georgia. There is too much for one entry so hold back your excitement and enjoy.

On a sad note, it was very hard to say good bye.  It did not really hit me on how much I missed my friends until I had to say good bye at the airport today. I had to have lunch at Target.  (Not too bad on the pocket book so don't worry, Garrett.) On a good note, I am so very lucky to have such awesome friends.  Many people spend there whole life looking for a friend that they can totally be themselves with and I am lucky to say I have three.  My Husband, My Bridget and My Melissa.  Yes, as you can see I am very possessive of them but I know when to let go (a little) and share them with their families.  I will always have a place for them no mater where I am.

The Family Expands...

Little Bug has a big family.

This is Coconut and her friend.  I can't remember the other monkey's name and I don't really care to find out because they change like the wind blows.  Some times they even change from boys to girls or from moms to babies.  It is a lot to remember but we do.  Every night there is a different story that is acted out instead of going to bed.  It is a soap opera. There is only two boys most of the time and First Dolly is always the matriarch for the Family. These new little guys were a pick me up when Little Bug was not feeling so well a couple of weeks ago.

The whole family. Maybe if you are lucky someday, Little Bug will fill you in on all the drama.  It can get a bit crazy sometimes.

Ms. Indepentant

We are in trouble now!  Little Bug knows how to ride her bike!

We were cleaning the garage and it just clicked.  Now we can't keep her off it.  She wants to go every where.  I did find the helmets since the video so we do wear our helmet now.

Let the Blood Presure Rise...

When I married Garrett I always thought he was really calm, cool and collected.  Well, he is unless it is watching his daughter play soccer.  I got a little bit of a taste last year when I had a tough time sitting by Garrett because of all the yelling and parent coaching from the sidelines.

This year is a bit different.  Little Bug's league and team are not as advanced as our last year's team.  Just like everything in Georgia, totally laid back and it might kill Garrett at the soccer field.

Example 1

This is our 1st game a couple of weeks ago and as you can see we have no uniforms.  Every other team has uniforms but us.  There was something wrong at the factory and we were the only ones that did not get uniforms. Really?

Example 2

This is Gabe.  He is the brother of one of the players.  He sat in the middle of the field during the game for over five minutes before his mom came and got him.  That was after he almost got trampled.  He also wanted to play soccer with Garrett but Garrett declined since he was watching the game. Really!

Example 3

No refs.  The coaches are the refs.  This drives Garrett the most nuts because they don't always follow the rules.  They throw in the ball to themselves.  We do goal kicks instead of corner kicks because no one is paying attention to who it went out on.  And my favorite is that we have a player who loves to use their hands and that is okay.  Really?

The most important thing is that Little Bug is having fun.  She is the best player on the team so she gets to play a lot.  Hopefully we will be a little better at finding a team next year but it was so last minute this year that she almost did not get to play at all.

We will see how game three goes tonight.

Thanks, Honey!

Yesterday I turned 34.  It really is not that bad.  At least I'm not 38 like my sister is going to be and I don't have "sparkles" yet like Garrett.  So, I think that I am doing pretty good for 34.

I always give Garrett a hard time when it comes to my birthday because he has forgotten in the past.  This year I decided to take matters into my own hands and I asked if we could have my friends come and visit and he said YES! Next week my two best friends are coming to visit.  I am so excited.  They need a break, too. They have been supper busy at work helping to cover since I abandoned ship in December.

He also surprised me and got a birthday cake.  This is my 1st birthday cake that I have not made or bought since I turned 21.

Yes, it is shaped like Georgia and he did have to rub it in that the state and I have had a few rough spots that we have been working out.  True Garrett style.  Always poking fun.  At least it helps keep us honest.

Wabam!

Well, Monday night it felt a little more like home here in Georgia.  You see we had a crazy thunderstorm with big winds and even a tornado in our county.  It was just a small one but the funny thing is that I had no idea of any of this until Tuesday.  I slept right through it all.

Bug has this special tree that is on the main road in Rincon that we drive by everyday.  She calls it the Wabam Tree because it grew at a slant and looks like it will fall over and "wabam" you when you drive by.  With the storms on Monday night it WABAMED the street and fell over closing the main highway through town for the morning so we had to find a new way to school.

I did learn that Georgia doesn't have tornado warning  sirens.  How would have thought? I mean since I grew up in Kansas I thought that everybody had tornado warning sirens.  I guess it is a fluke thing to have a tornado this close to the coast.  I guess we brought more of Kansas with us then we thought.

A Little Too Quiet.

Well the Cousins went home on Thursday morning and the apartment has been a little too quite.  We miss them.  It was fun to have family here.  Ms. Laney was a stitch with her dancing.  Mr. Jameson and Mr. Josh keep Bug laughing so hard that it took her tummy two days to recover.  Ms. Lauren kept Little Bug out of trouble. Ms. Lilly, my birthday buddy, helped me with all kinds of things from baking to reading books.

It has been a long time since I got to sit in the bathroom and make up bath time stories with the bubbles.  I still get to read books but not The Princess and the Pottie. We had a nail painting party and even the boys had pedicures since I cut their toenails too. We made chocolate cupcakes for Uncle Jamie since he turned 40!

We really had an awesome time.  I will say it takes a special woman to keep up with that energetic crowd and I give my sister a ton of props!  You can come back anytime!  And we made it with out any complaints from downstairs!
