Ghosts, Pirates, and Fried Chicken...

So, I am a little bit behind on adding our adventures in the blog so bare with me... I also have been told, that I need to spice it up a bit with some pictures so...

Last Saturday we decided to take a trip into Savannah as the girls had only gone to the mall and had not seen some of the really neat stuff like the Savannah River and Historic Downtown.  Garrett and I decided that we should take them to the Pirate House for lunch for a little bit of education and fried chicken.

For all those history buffs out there, the Pirate House is a combination of many little houses and gardens from the past that have all been hooked together.  We got to eat in the Herb House which is the oldest house in Georgia, built in 1734.  It was pretty cool.  In 1753, the actual Pirate House opened so that sailors could "refuel" with a few drinks and a little somthin, somthin before heading back out to sea.  Some of Treasure Island was written at the Pirate House's upper room. Also, and it is said to be one of the top 10 most haunted places in the US. As for ghosts, Garrett says it is a bunch of crap but we like to think it is real.

Well, we had a great time...

Okay, so we might have had some of that famous rum or maybe not...

The Bugs started it all with there kids menus, what can I say, these apples don't fall far from the tree...

After our lunch, we went and walked off some of the really rich Southern food and took a stroll along River Street.  It was a little cooler than we thought right next to the river so we had to warm up in the candy shop.  They were making taffy. Peach flavored, who would have guessed.  That was pretty fun too.  I was really proud of the girls because they were told they could each pick out a dessert.  Little Bug looked and looked and could not decided on any one thing so she decided not to get anything.  No whining or crying.  I could not believe it.  Other Bug wanted to watch what she eats.  So after we watched them make the candy, we all left empty handed.  I could not believe it.

Making taffy...

It was a very fun Saturday with the family in Savannah.

'Til the next adventure...
